Oxfordshire, 24th February 2015; Gigaclear, the ultrafast, pure fibre broadband networks provider, has enabled Uppingham School to provide cutting edge Internet learning resources to its nearly 800 pupils. Uppingham School, the prestigious co-educational boarding school based in Uppingham, Rutland, has seen demand for bandwidth increase dramatically as video-learning and other Internet learning resources become the norm in classrooms. Since moving to Gigaclear fibre, the ultrafast network has helped Uppingham School meet and surpass this demand, as the school reported its first-ever Terabyte of data – one million Megabytes – downloaded/uploaded in a single day recently.

Gigaclear’s pure fibre service has allowed Uppingham pupils to benefit from learning using a range of devices and platforms both inside and outside of the classroom. Pupils can now also use online videos to assist with homework assignments, as both the classrooms and the boarding houses are ultrafast enabled with Gigaclear’s service.

During the planning and implementation stages, Uppingham School and Gigaclear formed an effective partnership that expedited the installation and helped Gigaclear deliver the new fibre broadband service across the wider community of Uppingham. Through providing access to their ducts and facilities, Uppingham School helped reduce the costs and time associated with the installation of the Gigaclear network.

Adam Niblett, Director of Information Systems at Uppingham School said:
“With the growing prevalence of internet and video-based learning resources in classrooms, we needed a cost effective solution to dramatically increase bandwidth. I liked the personal service from Gigaclear, dealing with the people directly in charge of the project. We’re happy to have worked with Gigaclear to help provide connectivity to the broader Uppingham community.”

Matthew Hare, Chief Executive, Gigaclear, said:
“We’ve truly seen the digital revolution change the way classrooms operate and how children interact with online learning. More and more schools are seeing the benefits of these rich, interactive forms of Internet and media based learning, and are seeing ultrafast broadband services like Gigaclear’s as a way to cost effectively deliver these benefits. We’re proud to work and partner with schools like Uppingham, helping them to educate Generation Z and working together to connect more people in their community to ultrafast commerce, entertainment and communication.”
