No rural community can afford to be left behind by the digital revolution

Gigaclear, the ultrafast, pure fibre broadband networks provider, has announced its intention to deploy ultrafast broadband to around 5000 homes and businesses across several Northamptonshire villages by the end of 2017.

The first communities to benefit, all of which are outside of the BT deployment area being subsidised by BDUK and the County Council, are likely to be West Haddon and King’s Cliffe, with construction expected to start later this autumn. These will be followed by Apethorpe, Aynho, Coton, Croughton, Guilsborough and Ravensthorpe. Many other communities will also hear from Gigaclear later this year as it starts its marketing campaigns.
Residents who are continually thwarted by unreliable and slow broadband speeds will be able to access consistent and reliable speeds of up to 1000Mbps (1Gbps), meaning they will be able to access all available Internet content and applications no matter how many family members are online, the weather, or what time of the day it is.

Councillor Andre Gonzalez de Savage, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Public Protection, Northamptonshire County Council commented:
“I am delighted that Gigaclear is working to bring its ultrafast fibre broadband to Northamptonshire. This private sector investment looks set to deliver early benefits. The villages Gigaclear will be rolling out to aren’t part of any other commercial or subsidised plans and it is fantastic that they will be bringing pure fibre broadband to the county at no cost to the taxpayer. ”

Matthew Hare, Chief Executive, Gigaclear commented:
“Work, rest and play in Northamptonshire will now come at Gigabit speeds. Gigaclear is going to transform the connected lives of members of Northamptonshire communities as we have done in other counties with our ultrafast pure fibre broadband, putting these homes and businesses into the best-connected 1% worldwide.”
